Our Story

What We’re All About

Marden Pre-school opened in 1992 and has just reregistered on the 15th of October as a CIO. It operates from two rooms within Marden community centre, which is situated on the same site as Marden Primary Academy school in the village of Marden, Herefordshire. The setting serves the local and wider communities. The setting is open each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8am till 5.15pm, and Friday 8am till 4.30pm term time. School holidays times vary taking into account parents work commitments and uptake of holiday club. We provide children with a safe and secure enabling environment both inside and out, where children are able to experience exciting, enjoyable activities. Children are encouraged to manage risk themselves and risk assess the environment inside and outside. We have incorporated a mud kitchen into the outside environment, and we change around recyclable materials to enhance the outdoor area, e.g. drain pipes for cars, balls or water play, saucepans and frying pans with wooden spoons to experiment with sound. The setting has wheelchair access; there is also a disabled adult’s toilet. The setting supports children with additional needs and or disabilities.
